The climate here is exceptionally sunny—with over 300 days of sunshine per year—even during the winter months. This area is also known for a very special wine: the red wines of the CORBIÈRES appellation, grown in this sun-drenched corner south of Carcassonne, are rich and full-bodied...
Carcassonne is famous for its vast, remarkably well-preserved medieval fortress and is definitely worth a day trip. Additionally, Carcassonne’s airport is now served by Ryanair.
Narbonne, with its historic old town and the Gothic cathedral Saint-Just, is the next major city after Lézignan. It’s a great place for shopping or browsing the local markets. Nearby Narbonne-Plage is a popular seaside resort.
Perpignan lies just before the Spanish border. From here, you can head west into the Pyrenees or continue on to Andorra. Perpignan is also served by several low-cost airlines.
